Baked Garlic Croutons - Salads
Baked Garlic Croutons

"These baked croutons made with olive oil and multi-grain bread are a perfect accompaniment for any green salad. Try it with a flavored olive oil, such as a good smoked variety."  Original recipe yield: 1 1/2 cups croutons.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 large clove garlic, minced
  • 3 slices SARA LEE® 100% Multi-Grain Bread
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

    DIRECTIONS:
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a large saute pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Stir in garlic; cook and stir for 1 minute. Add bread cubes, and toss to coat. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, or until crisp and dry. Check frequently to prevent burning. Cool. The original recipe, Garlic Croutons, was submitted by Cathy Hofmann, and calls for butter and French bread.
