Dinette Cake
"A simple 1 egg cake designed for small kitchens." Original recipe yield: 1 - 8x8 inch pan.
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups cake flour
1 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), grease and flour an 8x8 inch pan.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. Add shortening and milk. Mix until smooth, then add vanilla and egg. Mix well.
Pour into an 8x8 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
